Description
Similar to Red German Chasing Pitch, but with stronger adhesive strength and a little harder. All you need is a hot air gun to soften it enough to secure your work in place. It’s firmer than German Red Pitch when cool, making it ideal for shallow chasing, engraving, and planishing. Made from natural pine resin so it doesn’t have the overwhelming odor of lower quality pitches. Sold in a foil tub which contains 4.4 lbs of pitch, the perfect amount to fill our 7″ or 8″ Pitch Bowls . Made in Germany.
Simply remove the pitch from the foil tub, break it up into small pieces with a hammer (within a burlap or other cloth bag) and place them in a pitch bowl. Place the small pieces in your pitch bowl and put the bowl in an oven at 250 to 300°F, being careful to avoid boiling the pitch. Once the pitch has congealed, you may soften the surface with a hot air gun and embed your work-piece. When handling molten pitch, wearing eye protection and a long sleeve shirt is an absolute must. Molten pitch can cause nasty burns.
